Home... the very word conjures up feelings of warmth, security, and comfort for most of us. A home can be an apartment, mobile home, town home, single-family residence, or whatever else you want it to be.

NHSIE is an affiliate of NeighborWorks® America which was established by  Congress in 1978 to increase the capacity of local community-based housing organizations like NHSIE to revitalize their communities, particularly by expanding and improving housing opportunities.

Founded in 1981 by three WWII veterans  who wanted to make homeownership available to African-Americans in San  Bernardino, NHSIE has grown to become a comprehensive not-for-profit community-based housing organization serving residents throughout San Bernardino and Riverside counties.

Our Services range from providing in-depth homeownership education for prospective homeowners to hands-on maintenance workshops for current homeowners. We help residents avoid predatory lenders, clean up their credit record, purchase the right homeowner insurance, prevent foreclosure, locate affordable first and second mortgage financing for down payments, closing costs, or renovation – to name just a few of the services we offer week in and week out.

ost of all, NHSIE is about partnering with public and private entities to leverage funding for the greatest return on investment – this means we are focused on creating sustainable communities of choice, where the impact of our support is evident over the long term.

Even though there is an obvious gap between purchasing power, funding, and available affordable homes in California, the Inland Empire being no exception, NHSIE makes the dream of home ownership a reality for many each year.
