Since 1981, Neighborhood Housing Services of the Inland Empire, Inc. (NHSIE) has focused its leadership and resources on strengthening communities throughout San Bernardino and Riverside Counties by providing access to homeownership opportunities to first-time home buyers, helping homeowners maintain their homes and property values, partnering with businesses and other organizations to expand human and financial resources, and providing grassroots community leadership that transforms neighborhoods.

We do this because we know that for the majority of individuals, homeownership is a life goal, and that keeping and maintaining one’s home is vitally important, as well. We also know that well-maintained neighborhoods are safer and homes in safe communities maintain or increase in value over time.

For many first-time home buyers, taking that first step sometimes seems overwhelming. NHSIE makes the home buying process less daunting by helping prospective home buyers become knowledgeable about the buying process, providing confidential, one-on-one counseling, directing them to down payment assistance programs, and identifying their affordable housing options.

NHSIE offers programs to existing homeowners through beautification grants and by providing hands-on home maintenance workshops that enhance skills that help home owners keep their home maintenance costs down and the values up.

Many current homeowners throughout the Inland Empire are struggling to keep their homes during these challenging economic times. NHSIE is here to help through one-on-one counseling, referrals to other useful resources, and by working on behalf of troubled homeowners to help them avoid foreclosure or reduce mortgage payments.
