Redevelopment
NHSIE administers the Beautification Grant Program for the City of San Bernardino for qualifying homeowners and owners of mobile homes. Program Grant funds are allocated to qualifying homeowners on a one-time, first come, first-served basis. All funding decisions are based on the documentation submitted with each application. An initial inspection of the property will be conducted by an NHSIE redevelopment specialist to determine final program eligibility.
Exterior Beautification Grant Program - San Bernardino
Program Description:
Provides grants of up to $15,000 for exterior repairs and improvements for owner-occupied single family homes located within the city of San Bernardino.
Program Purpose:
Provides low-to-moderate income homeowners living in the city of San Bernardino with a special source of grant funds to undertake specific housing rehabilitation and correction work deemed necessary to improve the exterior beauty and quality of their homes. The improvements permitted under the requirements of the Grant include but are not limited to the following exterior work, and includes all safety and code violations
Roof replacement
Handicap accessibility improvements and code deficiency corrections
Exterior paint
Window and front door replacement
Landscaping – including automatic sprinklers, front yard grass seed and planting materials
Parkway enhancements including stamped concrete, trees, and landscape plantings
Driveway repair or replacement
Garage door replacement
Front yard wrought iron, vinyl, wood, or block fencing
Program Participation Criteria:
Homeowner must have owned and lived in home for a minimum of one year
Homeowner must be current on mortgage and property taxes
Homeowner must complete the Program Application and meet applicable income criteria (see Income Requirements)
Homeowner must live in home for not less than one year following the completion of the work or 100% of Grant funds must be repaid
Homeowner must sign a city of San Bernardino Maintenance Covenant
Homeowner must attend the NHSIE 4-hour Post-Purchase Home Maintenance Workshop; class fee: $50.00
Homeowner must maintain property after improvements have been completed; San Bernardino Code Enforcement is charged by the city to issue non-compliance citations when properties are not being appropriately maintained per the terms of the Maintenance Covenant.

Mobile Home Grant Program - San Bernardino
Program Description:

Appliance (limited to stovetops, wall ovens, and exhaust hoods) replacement
Electrical work
Sewer repairs
Termite repairs
Door and window screen repair or replacement
Tub, shower, toilet repairs or replacements
Foundation or structural repairs
Repair or replacement of existing alternative solar energy sources
